James began working as a photographer’s assistant in Washington, D.C.. He soon branched off to begin his own freelance photography career, amassing a winning reputation as the photographer-of-choice for the fashion advertising department of a local department store and shooting national ads for a large clothing company.
Before long, James decided it was time for him to explore other markets, and he left DC for Miami and Paris before moving to New York--the "City that Never Sleeps," which ultimately captured his heart and imagination.
In New York, James was widely sought after to work fashion and beauty editorial shoots for several different publications. He also began photographing celebrities, including such iconic entertainers and legends as Smokey Robinson, Pam Grier, The Sister Sledge, Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, Usher, and Sean “Puffy” Combs.
James' latest work is Drag Dolls, Dames & Diva's; a long term project that finally saw the light of day when released in late summer 2014. DDD&D is a pictorial work of art in book form that highlights the beauty and chic of featured Drag Queens.
